First Charity shop haul...£86 spent

Today we visited one of our favorite charity shops which is situated just outside Andover. We ended up breaking our personal best of £86 spent in a single visit to one charity shop. We got some excellent items, top ladies fashion, football shirt, shoes, board games, ceramics and quite a lot of cuddly toys. This should keep us busy for a little while.

Pick ups, golf and lots of packing.

We had a nice Facebook pick up today, £10 for a bundle of  10 mens clothing items, 4 went into the bin as they were damaged but we managed to list the rest for over £100. We are pricing a little high but everything has the best offer option so we will see how they go before adjusting the price in a couple of weeks if we need to.

                                                                  Vans shirt on ebay

Lots of packing today, we have been a little too relaxed over the Bank Holiday weekend and let the packing pile up a bit, all done now though.

The best thing about doing what we do for a living is the free time it gives us. Ady worked for over 30 years for the same company before he quit a couple of years ago and has enjoyed dropping everything when he wants to spend an afternoon at the local golf course. His golfing partner is also a full time reseller so the golf course conversation is always sprinkled with moans about dodgy ebay buyers and the like.

Old pin badges and other news.

We had a quiet day yesterday with only 4 sales which was a little dissapointing.

One sale we had was this great little pin badge from the 1960s, it was a badge from the British holiday company Butlins. We picked up a job lot of 12 metal pin badges from an auction last year for around £20 and out of that bundle we have only 2 left in stock. A good profit was had there so badges are always worth checking out if the price is low enough.

We also spent a bit of time yesterday ending and relisting 10 items or so. The results from this are still looking promising, although we had a low sale day the seller traffic graph shows a 38% increase on the figures from last month.

eBay - Relist or sell similiar????

There has been a debate online for a couple of years on the subject of  ending listings and relisting /  sell similar to boost them in the eBay best match algorithm. I thought i would do an experiment with our shop this month as we have quite a lot of stale listings. We used to sell 90% toys but in the couple of years since we went full time we have spent more time going to the auction houses and picking up collectibles and ceramics. These kind of items may sell for more money but they can sit around for a long time.

So a few days ago i decided to end 10 items that were reaching the end of their 30 day cycle and use the sell similar link instead of the relist option. I also messed around with the items title and reduced the price by a few pence to see if that made a difference. I have been doing 10 items per day every day since.

It works, we sold some items that had been listed for over a year within a couple of hours. It seems that doing the sell similar technique does boost the item in the search rankings. Looking at my traffic report on the eBay seller hub this morning that our page impression increased by 35% when compared to last months figures.

I would love to know other eBay sellers thoughts on this.

Old speakers sell well.

We had a nice little sale today on Facebook marketplace. This old set of sony speakers had been sat around the house for months just gathering dust. We listed them on Ebay and had a couple of watchers but no bites so we thought we'd try Facebook. We have not listed many item on there before but this is something that i think may be worth looking into. We had them on the site for just a couple of days before they sold for £30. No ebay fees, no struggling to get them packed...much easier.

Nice sale from the Auction.

We had a lovely sale yesterday from one of the auction pick ups on Saturday.
This pile of old football cards cost us £8 and we have just sold them on eBay for £54 including postage.

This was a nice pick up as these were the type of cards i used to collect when i was a kid.

Make money on ebay - product review

We love reselling online to make money and different parts of the job are more enjoyable than others. Going out for the day visiting 10-20 charity shops is always a favorite with us as well as doing the researching on prices.
Something we don't enjoy so much though is the packing up of  bigger bulkier items. When we first started as eBay resellers we sold only video games, slip them into a padded envelope then into a post box - Simple. But when we moved up to larger items we were spending a lot more time making up boxes and packing them out with bubble wrap.
What we found to be of a great use is the Rapesco tape dispenser gun.

Rapesco make great products and we have always used them. These tape guns are a great time saver. No more trying to find the end of the tape with these. They are very sturdy and the tape rolls are easily fitted. The tension can also be adjusted and there is a sharp protected blade to cut the tape.

No Sunday rest for us!

A busy day for us today spent catching up on the items sold and researching prices on the items we picked up at the auction the previous day. Still a bit to wet down in Hampshire for the car boot season to really kick off yet so that will have to wait for another day. A nice sale today was this little playmobil lorry for £30.
This came from a local snipe. We paid £120 for a huge amount of loose playmobil from ebay a few months ago. It took a bit of sorting out but we made a lot of money from it. Local snipes are always a good way of getting good hauls. Quite often there be no postage with collection only which increases the chances of winning the auction.

Auction day

Today we headed out to an auction 15 miles from home. The auctions are called auctions in a day and they are exactly that.No catalogue,no previous day viewing so all lots are dropped at the venue in the morning, they are photographed for the auction (they have a screen to show photos), doors open 90 minutes before the auction starts so buyers can have a look the away we go.
This was our second visit to this particular auction and last time we were blown away by how much stuff we could get cheaply.
Todays best pick up for us was this Olympus SLR camera outfit along with 4 other cameras not pictured here
We paid £65 for this and we will be shooting for £200 for this outfit plus another £30 for the other items.
Our other pick ups were bag of old football cards for £8, bag of old event tickets for £13 There were 4 Madonna concerts tickets for 1990 in that bag which have sold on ebay previously for £20 each!!! A box of old football annuals for £10, tray of bric a brac for £5 and a vintage ring for Jen which she wants to keep for herself for £13.
All in all a very profitable day, We should make a fair few quid from this and we also had a good laugh at the auction too. Win,win, win.
Whoops! Always pack ceramics well!!

We always pack our ceramics really well with lots of bubble wrap with thick cardboard inside a sturdy box but unfortunatly we had a buyer send this photo to us through ebay messages.

Sometimes the post office can be a little heavy handed and thing do get broken. This Denby jug never made it intact to our buyer in Italy so we had to issue an apology and a refund. Thankfully it was only a £20 all in sale so we will just to take it on the chin and move on.

Wednesday, 4 April 2018

After a good March (150 sales for £2200) we are keen to continue the good sales into the new month. We really hit the shops and auction last month spending over £650 on stock. We realized a long time ago that if you want to resell full time you have to invest a lot of time and money to make a good wage so get out there and spend those pennies.
Some of the highlights last month were: A pair of G Star jeans for £40 inc post (cost £3.00), Digital medical pill dispenser for £53 inc post (cost £5.00) and a Game of thrones figure on Amazon for £36 inc post (cost £7.00). So as you can see we don't specialize too much although the toy section of any charity shop is the first place we tend to head to.
Four days into the new month and we have only been out buying once, spending £70 in our favorite charity in our area. Nothing special found but lots of football shirts for a £1 a go, bundle of marvel dvd's for £9.00, a few toys and games etc.
We also picked up this on a eBay local snipe. A ebayer was selling a cuttlebug craft machine on auction with collection only. We won it for £30 and are selling for £75 on Amazon so a good flip there.

Sales are coming in fast so we have been busy packing things up. We are averaging a turnover of over £100 a day in April so far so its a good start. One of the nice sales was a Warhammer book we picked up for £3.00, they had 6 different books in the charity shop so we grabbed them all. This one sold for £40 inc postage.

Thats it for this post, any questions please pop them into the comments box below.

After over 3 years away we thought we would revamp and relaunch our blog. We are now going to focus on our reselling business and share with you our efforts to be full time on eBay and amazon.

About us.

Jadysalsorts are Ady and Jen, a married couple from Hampshire in the UK. We have been selling on ebay for years but recently decided that we could do it as a full time living. Jen stays at home and works on the business whilst Ady has a 'normal' job 4 days a week.
We pick up our stock from all the usual places such as boot sales, charity shops and auction houses mostly targeting toys and collectibles but will pick up anything that will flip.

The Business.

Jadys sell on eBay and Amazon but we don't use Amazon FBA. In our opinion its much better to be merchant sellers on Amazon so that way items can be listed on both platforms with twice the chance of selling. Also we never stock pile items to sell in Q4. The sooner items are listed online they are in the market place so we believe in the maxim 'Source it, List it, Forget about it,Sell it".
Last year we started to hire a storage unit, this has been the best thing for our business as now for our £120 a month cost we can store lots of items in a good dry secure environment and not have too much business clutter in our house.

This Blog.

There seems to be a huge reselling community online at the moment with YouTube, blogs and facebook etc. Reselling can sometimes be a lonely job so its good to know there are other people out there doing the same thing. Over time we will upload a few videos on YouTube showing of our storage unit and sales round-up etc. We aim to us this blog as a kind of reselling diary, not daily entries but interesting sales and pick ups with a few tips of the trade.

Review - Disney Bounce Bounce Tigger game

  1. This is a brilliant game for the children who love Tigger from Winnie the Pooh.
    Tigger
Plans a trip and has a lot of things to take with him. The aim of the game is to
put Tigger’s items on him: his hat, walking stick, scarf and lots more. However
Tigger has a lot of things to take with him but be aware he will bounce when he
     is carrying too much.
The winner is the person who DOESN’T make Tigger bounce.
This game helps the development of hand and eye co-ordination skills, Teaches them
to balance objects and promotes lone play as well as playing with other children.
Taking it in turns and the thrill of when Tigger Bounces to see who wins. This is also a
Great game to play with Parents, keeping the child on course and attention on the game.

Review - Detecto puzzle - Kojak

We recently discovered this little gem on our travels and we just had to have it. Growing up in the seventies i remember watching the TV series of Kojak and absolutely loved it so finding any memorabilia from that era always excites me.
The puzzle is a full color very retro looking image divided into a challenging 750 pieces. The beauty of this is that the puzzle is only half the fun, Inside the box lid is a typical Kojak dectective crime story .

First you read the story and using the clues from the text and the final image of the jigsaw you then have to solve the crime. This is no easy task as the puzzle box does not include an image of the jigsaw you are trying to make! Nevertheless the two of us had the puzzle made and crime solved in two days. We are now on the hunt for more of these great puzzles.

Game review - Cards against humanity

Well what can you say about Cards against humanity. Its probably the most evil , cringeworthy, controversial but ultimately funny game ever produced. The more horrible the minds of players the better the game gets. The object of the game is to come up with the funniest answer to the question or statement that is read out to the players. Each player is dealt 10 white cards with either names of people, silly comments or just just mind blowing sickness written on them. One person reads out the statement on one of the black cards and the other players have to pick the funniest answer from all the white cards submitted.
This is defiantly not a game for children but makes for a great party game for adults and after a few drinks the answers usually take a turn for the worse (or better as the case could be). With 3 expansion packs currently available and with more in the pipeline this game will never lose its appeal and is defiantly one to have tucked away in a cupboard for those nights when you have a few friends around......But dont suggest a game when Granny and Grandad pop round though!!!

Game Review - Scene it? The Twilight saga

The Scene it? game first appeared on our toy shop shelves around 20 years ago and since then many more variations have been released. Titles including Harry potter, The Simpsons, Disney, Marvel and Star trek have lead the way into the more specialized range as well as versions found on the Xbox and PlayStation video games consoles.
The Twilight edition of the game first appeared in stores in October 2009. The game can be played by 2 or more players but you really do need to be a fan of the Twilight films to enjoy it. The box contains the usual DVD containing movie clips and sound bites, dice, 4 interesting looking game pieces and  gameboard and instruction booklet.View the TV ad for the game here:

You play the game by watching the DVD and answering questions relating to the clips you see. The questions may be observational ones as well as wordplay and problem solving ones so the game is more than a trivia type guess the answer game. The game play could be adapted for single players or teams.
Like all Scene it games this is good fun, hardcore fans of the movies would do a lot better than non Twilight fans but this is a great game for a games night in.Please click here to visit our eBay store Jadys toys chest

Game review - Dogsbody - 1975 vintage

Welcome to our very first review. We thought We'd choose this game as we are writing this whilst being watched by our two Pugs who are probably wondering if the plastic bones in this game are edible!!

The game we are reviewing is Dogsbody. Its a game which was released in 1975 by The Berwick Masterpiece series. Other games in this series included Mission impossible, Battle of Britain, Catchphrase, Monkey business and many more in a varied catalogue.

The game is aimed at smaller children aged probably 7 and under. The game comprises of 5 plastic dog figures which have fairly good detailing to them, plastic bones, a board which resembles a dogs bowl and 5 dog pictures that have been split into 4 pieces.
The aim of the game is to collect the four completed pictures before their opponents or to recognize what full set your opponent has and grabbing the model from the game board.
Its a fun but simple game which takes little time to set up and can be over fairly quickly. But the little ones will love this and every one playing has a even chance of winning .
